FAQs It's natural to have questions.

Not at all. In fact most couples already do have almost the same dance they just aren’t aware of it. The things that make it different are often just the music, perhaps a different order that the steps are in or a slight variation in some steps. Most studios teaching the Box Rumba know that they have a list of steps that are better suited to not only a wedding dance but also to beginner dancers and so all couples will walk away with a similar routine.
Easy. There are a few ways you can do this. 1 - To change the choreography all you need to do is put the steps in a different order. All steps that end with a Box Step can be moved to a different place in your choreography and it will still join seamlessly. (In saying this, we have chosen the order specifically to allow your dance to have a beautiful feel with turns put in specific places to give you a beautiful flow and feel but it is completely up to you and your personal preference) 2 - Another way you can personalise your dance (and our favourite suggestion) is to add a touch of your own personality into it. For example, you might like to add a kiss on her hand or forehead right before the first step starts, or get down on bended knee to kick off, or perhaps you might like to add in your own dramatic pause in the middle of the routine to give her a kiss. The options are endless and only limited to your imagination!
Nothing to stress about - have a quick read of the music page to see why.
You have 2 choices. 1 - Pick a different song that suits a slower pace. 2 - Use your song as background music and ignore matching the speed of it (see the music page).

You have 3 choices. 1 - Pick a song that is a little longer to enable you to complete the routine. 2 - Loop the song (if you have a tech savvy friend you can seamlessly extend the song - depending on the song of course). 3 - Cut the routine short by either simply cutting off the end of the routine and pasting the dip where the music finishes, OR where the choreography suggests 2 box steps you can replace with 1 box step or no box steps to shorten the entire routine without losing any of the effect (our favourite suggestion).
The best way to overcome this problem is to arrange for your music coordinator/DJ/band to slowly fade out the song using your final dip as a cue. It is best if you can hold your dip for a few seconds (we wouldn't want to miss this perfect photo op).
Firstly, be sure to practice the whole routine in your shoes a least a couple of times before the big day. This will not only give you the opportunity to adjust your balance but will help to slightly soften and break in your beautiful new shoes and avoid sore feet on the day. If this is not possible or you are worried about getting your wedding shoes dirty, try and practice in a shoe that is similar. If you find yourself in the situation where you cannot dance in your wedding shoes at all then the best solution is to take a second pair of shoes specifically for your dance and simply change in and out of them when needed. For many brides your dress will make it difficult to see your shoes, and let's be honest - who’s looking at your feet when you are dancing a beautiful first dance together.
The best way to overcome a restrictive dress is to minimise the step size you and your partner are taking and be sure to practice with this in mind. Most importantly, your step size must match each others, so be sure that you are both on the same page in the lead up.
An easy solution to ensure your train does not get in the way is to organise for there to be a bustle at the back of the dress to hook the train up to whilst you are dancing. Alternatively, you can hold the bottom of the dress up with your left hand and it will not affect the dance.
A full dress will often just require a little more space between you and your partner. Be sure to practice a little like this before the big day just to get a feel for it. (If you will be wearing a hoop you can also practice in this which can be quite helpful - and a little fun!)
If you have a large dance floor simply start your dance in the very centre of the floor and enjoy.
The Box Rumba has been specifically chosen as the ultimate romantic wedding dance for many reasons, one of which being its ability to be danced in small spaces. If needed feel free to mark out a similar sized space when practicing and reduce your step size to suit if needed.
If you have no dance floor then you will need to allocate an area designated for your wedding dance (and any other general dancing that is planned). Just be sure you pick the most central area as possible and get an idea of how much space you will have available in advance so that you can practice with that in mind.
Our packages are for everybody. All you need to do is decide together which part you would each prefer to dance and get started.
Definitely make sure your photographer has their camera ready! There will be many beautiful photo opportunities throughout your routine. Most obviously will be your dip as you finish your dance but along with that are any turns/spins, lifts, moments when your are in dance position looking into each other's eyes, shared smiles, and lots of little extra add ons you may like to include (like a cheeky kiss on the hand, or cheek).
